Serving Stark County with more than just vehicles for four generations

For the Progressive team, giving back to the community has always been vital. J.S. "Sandy" Sanders, the founder of Progressive Chevrolet, established the Progressive Civic Fund in the 1950s as a way to give back to the neighborhood that helped him build his company. The Progressive Auto Group was founded in 1937. It has developed over time and, in just the last ten years, has raised more than $450,000 for the community.

The Progressive Civic Fund's primary objective is to provide workers of Progressive the freedom to select local charities they are enthusiastic about supporting. Every year, a committee comprising members from Sales, Accounting, Body Shop, and Parts convenes to discuss suggestions from each department and cast votes on the groups that Progressive will assist in the future year.

Every worker gives a tiny portion of their paycheck every pay month. Even though it might not seem like much, the combined contributions of all Progressive workers have a significant influence on the community. The Sanders family has also made significant contributions to the Stark Development Foundation, the Massillon Football Stadium, the Shop-With-a-Cop program, and the building fund of the new Salvation Army facility, to mention a few.
To assist local non-profits and schools in raising funds for their causes, the businesses have given cars to them. Most recently, Progressive Auto Group teamed up with a local radio station to raise money for the cancer research centers at two area hospitals.
