Proudly Making A Difference In Our Community Every Day.

At Progressive, we are deeply grateful for the incredible organizations that make a difference in our community every day. Their commitment to improving lives and creating positive change is something we truly admire. That’s why our employees have chosen to support these local organizations – because we believe in the power of giving back to the community that has supported us. By focusing our efforts on local initiatives, we can directly impact those in our own backyard, fostering a stronger, more connected community for all.

Giving back to the community has always been important to the Progressive team. Progressive Auto Group opened its doors in 1937 and it wasn’t long after when Progressive Chevrolet founder J.S. “Sandy” Sanders started the Progressive Civic Fund in the 1950's to give back to the local community that supported his business. It has continued to grow over the years and has raised more than $450,000 for the community in just the past 10 years. The main goal of the Progressive Civic Fund is to allow Progressive employees to choose charities close to home that they are passionate about to support.

A committee made up of representatives from each department (Sales, Accounting, Body Shop and Parts) meets annually to discuss each department’s nominations and vote on which organizations Progressive will support in the upcoming year.
Each employee donates a small percentage from each pay period. While that amount may seem small, the sum of all Progressive employees’ contributions really impacts the community.

In addition to this, the Sanders family has donated $100,000 to the building fund of the new Salvation Army facility, has been a major contributor to the Massillon Football Stadium, the Stark Development Foundation, and the Shop-With-a Cop program, just to name a few. The stores have donated vehicles to local schools and non-profit organizations to help them raise money for their organizations. And most recently, Progressive teamed up with a local radio station to raise funds for the cancer research centers at two area hospitals.
