Visit us this summer at the Progressive Chevrolet Stark County Fair!

August 22nd, 2019 by

Progressive Chevrolet is proud to celebrate the Stark County Fair’s 170th anniversary as the first ever title sponsor. The Progressive Chevrolet Stark County Fair is one of our community’s favorite family-friendly events, and we are thrilled to continue our support.
Running from Aug. 27 to Sept. 2, 2019, join us for a week of food, fun and entertainment. Stop by one of the famous food carts for a bite to eat, enjoy live music at the pavilion and learn about Stark County’s animals and agriculture.
“When you think of a community, there are a few things that come to mind. One of those is the county fair. It marks the end of summer and the beginning of the school year,” said Craig Sanders, owner of Progressive Chevrolet. “Preparing for the fair teaches hard work. It’s about more than just raising animals. Today, kids are so involved with sports, school and screens, they’ve gotten away from that life. This is an opportunity for them to get back to basics.”

How we got involved

The general manager at Progressive Auto Group’s Economy Auto Outlet, Dale Klick, also serves as president of the Stark County Fair Board. His family has been intimately involved in the fair for generations, and he is proud to carry on the legacy today.
“When it started, the fair was something everyone in Stark County did. Everyone had a farm, and the fair was the place to be,” said Klick.

The Progressive Chevrolet Stark County Fair is a place for people from all corners of our county to gather and celebrate our roots as an agricultural community. To continue the fair’s tradition of success, it is important for it to have great programs and the support of strong sponsorships.
When Klick stepped in to lead the hardworking, 22-person board, he had the idea to raise money by granting a company naming rights to the fair. Before he brought the concept to other businesses in the area, he approached Progressive Chevrolet, and Sanders was excited to make it happen.

How we give back

Progressive Chevrolet will present a check for $100,000 at this year’s fair and has committed to continuing the title sponsorship next year and beyond. This money helps to fund the fair, Stark County Junior 4-H and the Stark County Agricultural Society. The partnership has become a great way for Progressive Chevrolet to increase awareness in the community and for the fair to finance ongoing improvements.
“It’s been good for us and good for the fair. We’re proud to support Dale and his family and to partner with an event that does so much good in Stark County. The fair stands for family, hard work, community and follow-through, and so does Progressive Chevrolet,” said Sanders.

Join us for preview night

From 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, Klick’s daughters will be at the Progressive Chevrolet dealership providing a sneak peek at their cows, horses and goats. The general public can come to ask questions, take photos and interact with the animals before they head to the fair.
“Our girls feed these animals twice a day. They walk them around the farm, and they give them shots to keep them healthy. It’s a more authentic learning experience than they would have in a classroom, and it’s a lesson that goes beyond agriculture,” said Klick.
